Let me see if I have this straight. Donald Trump mocked Bernie Sanders when protesters interrupted campaign appearances of Sanders last summer.
But when faced with protesters at his rally in Chicago, Trump decides to cancel the rally after supposedly “meeting with law enforcement.”
Chicago Police deny ever meeting with the Trump campaign before the cancellation and claim they were prepared to maintain order at the rally. Interim Chicago Police Department Supt John Escalante confirmed in a press conference that police became aware the event was being cancelled at 6:30pm, adding: “The Chicago Police Department had no role, we were not consulted or provided an opinion as to whether or not the event should be cancelled. In fact we did assure the Trump campaign that we had more than adequate resources outside the UIC pavilion and we guaranteed them we could provide save access and exit for Mr Trump. At the same time we were confident that we were providing security for both the attendees that were going to the pavilion, supporters of Mr Trump, and the protestors that were outside the pavilion.”
It appears that Trump is not only a liar (we should all know that by now), but a coward, too. Should that come as any surprise?
Before anyone dumps on Chicago for violence, peaceful events for other candidates from both parties were held in other areas of Chicagoland concurrently. Trump and his supporters bring the hate wherever they go.
