Stand Tall

Over the weekend, Donald Trump unleased a midnight Twitter attack against Democrat candidate Mike Bloomberg. This one sums it up …

Height3

This is remarkable considering Trump is a known Liftist. Take a look …

Height2

You can tell when he wears lifts because he awkwardly leans forward. And why does he wear lifts? To perpetuate the myth that he is 6’3″ tall. He’s tall, but not 6’3″ tall.

Height1

Why is being 6’3″ so important to Trump? First, that would put him taller than Obama, and he can’t bear the thought of being shorter.

Additionally, he needs that extra height due to his weight so he isn’t officially classified as obese during his annual physical. He doesn’t want to be known as the modern day William Howard Taft.

But why is Trump attacking Mike Bloomberg, a candidate who is not even on any primary ballots until Super Tuesday? Follow the money. Even if we generously estimate Trump’s wealth at $5 billion, Bloomberg is 10 times as wealthy. Bloomberg spent millions on ads for Democrats in 2018 to help flip the House. He has pledged to spend millions again in 2020 for his campaign and other Democratic candidates. Trump has reason to worry about several candidates, and one is Mike Bloomberg.

What I like is that Mike Bloomberg fights back. His official campaign statement on Trump’s attacks on his height was perfect …

“The president is lying,” Bloomberg campaign spokesperson Julie Wood said in a statement. “He is a pathological liar who lies about everything: his fake hair, his obesity, and his spray-on tan.”

The former mayor echoed his spokesperson’s remarks, saying that Trump “lies about everything so you shouldn’t be surprised that he said things like that.” He added, “I stand twice as tall as he does on the stage that matters.”

I don’t know anything about Bloomberg’s politics, but I like that he hits back — hard. Here’s a Bloomberg ad that goes right after Trump.

Maybe I’ll look into Bloomberg just a bit. In Illinois, we elected a Democratic billionaire for governor in 2018. That is working out just fine so far, thank you. Maybe it can work on a national scale. He certainly would not be beholden to any special interest group (or Russia) dangling cash in front of him.

So Mike (assuming he follows this blog), keep it up. You may be physically shorter than Trump, but you are smarter, richer, thinner, more successful, etc. As Burton Cummings of the Guess Who advises, stand tall.
