I like to exercise first thing in the morning, and most of this summer I have been walking in the mornings. After Charlottesville, I have preferred biking more than walking recently. We live in a hilly area, so there are lots of downhill stretches where I can coast downhill at 20+ mph. Going at faster speeds, I feel the wind in my face and I imagine that the wind is blowing the stench of racism, bigotry and hatred off of me that I absorbed from watching the Charlottesville coverage. Of course, once the downhill stretch is done, there are long uphill climbs that leave me winded with burning legs. Standing on the pedals to inch my bike forward uphill reminds me that our struggle against racism, bigotry and hatred is real and hard work. Cycling has been good therapy for me post-Charlottesville. If only we could bike to change what happened in Charlottesville.

The One Million Job Myth
I hear Donald Trump proclaiming all the time about adding one million jobs during his first six months in office. Hey, that sounds pretty good. If we just take a look at the economy, maybe we’ll see that he is doing a good job. I do realize that there’s more to Trump than just the economy like the Nazi love, gutting healthcare and social services, ruining the environment, misogyny, wasting tax dollars on a wall, and I grow weary of listing them all. But hey, how about that economy and job creation?
I headed right to the Bureau of Labor Statistics. Don’t be afraid of statistics. You can safely click “Continue reading.” I promise that you will not be required to do any math.

Can I Get a Trump-Free Evening Please?
I wanted an evening without Donald Trump. It looked to be a good night to sit by a fire outside and have an adult beverage. Of course, that’s most nights for me, but tonight it had an extra appeal to me for whatever reason. That was before I knew Trump held a press conference, and not just any press conference, but the Titanic of press conferences. Sigh! And so we have another night of cable news watching and some blogging. Here are my random thoughts after watching the Trump presser.
Trump’s Black & White World
Kudos to Ken Frazier, CEO of pharmaceutical manufacturer Merck, for resigning from Trump’s American manufacturing council. Frazier had been the sole black CEO on that council. Gee, what a surprise. Frazier’s resignation on behalf of Merck appears to stem directly from Trump’s lack of leadership following the Charlottesville white supremacist debacle this weekend, per this statement tweeted out …

Kim is #Un in Guam
BREAKING NEWS …
Donald Trump is reportedly fuming that Kim Jong Un got to threaten Guam first with military action before he did. Even after threatening Venezuela before Un, Trump appears inconsolable.
I Did Nazi The Twist Coming That This Movie Review Took
I saw the movie “Dunkirk” yesterday. It was an overall solid movie about the heartbreak of war and the triumph of the human spirit. I am embarrassed to write that going to the movie, I was not certain if it was about WW1 or WW2. In the USA, if history did not happen on American soil or involve Americans, then it is deemed relatively unimportant and actually becomes a bit hazy if it really happened at all. I was disappointed when I realized that the movie was about WW2. I have really had my fill of seeing Nazis in the White House these days. I do not need to see them in the movie theater, too. Fortunately, there is only one brief facial shot of Nazi soldiers right at the end of the movie, making for a poignant ending. Unfortunately, I see more Nazis on cable news every day. Alright, let’s get right to the White House Nazi rankings then …

May The Farts Be With You
I’m seriously trying to lose a few pounds these days. I weigh myself every morning, and I like to see progress. I have several theories that have resulted in a strategy I have concocted for weight loss that involves farting, or lack therof.

Happy Blogiversary to Me!
Today marks the day that I posted first to this blog 2 years ago. I’d like to think that I started this blog as an apolitical blog with lots of hilarious posts about meteor showers and bath towels. Yes, there were some of those, although hilarious may be a strong adjective to use, but my first 4 posts were actually bipartisan political posts covering Mike Huckabee, Bernie Sanders, Hillary Clinton, and of course, Donald Trump who was a real joke back then. Some things never change. It wasn’t long before I published one of my all-time favorite Trump posts about illegal immigration. Ah, the good old days when Trump satire still worked.
Before this post devolves into a “best of” post, I want to impart unto/inflict onto my readers all the things I have learned about writing and blogging in these past 2 years.
