Jim Flanigan Looks at the World
Turning the Mundane into Fundane Since 2015
We tried another new church on Easter Sunday. We really liked it, except for the booming organ music that shook my dental fillings at times. Maybe we should sit in the back next time, if there is one. It was a church we had tried before, but decided not to visit again due to the service featuring … a puppet show. It wasn’t a creepy or scary puppet show.

But it was still a puppet show. However, we decided to try it again. And we liked it! I thought maybe we had found our new church home, until I spotted this in the church bulletin …
My wife slightly overbaked some cookies that we were going to take for a family Easter gathering, so my daughter and I got to decorate those and keep them. Score! No, I did not add 5 minutes to her timer. In addition, my wife was thoughtful enough to bake the random dough shapes that were leftover after using the cookie cutter. I was thrilled to see this one.

No, the NJ does not stand for No Jesus in honor of the Easter story that says they found his tomb empty. It stands for something else.

Since the Republican Tax “Cut” imposed upon USA taxpayers in 2017 has resulted in Americans paying more in 2018 income taxes, I am going to help taxpayers out by reducing government costs. Maybe the next President will actually cut middle class taxes in 2021 because of my ideas.
The Mueller report will be issued this week. We can reasonably expect text like this in the report …

Attorney General William Barr is working on redactions, so it may look like this when published …
This is not becoming a favorite recurring blog post of mine. I liked it when I was eliminating candidates such as John Hickenlooper, Bernie Sanders, and Comrade Tulsi Gabbard from the Democratic presidential race. But now I have to start cutting some good people, like this guy.
Three guesses who he is. Go …
Nope, nope, and nope. That presidential candidate is …

BREAKING NEWS: UK court immediately sentences Julian Assange to a shower and shave.
Republican legislators are devious, unscrupulous, morally corrupt, and downright criminal. I can accept that. But geez, do they have to be so freakin’ embarrassingly stupid? This gets on youtube and the whole world gets to see how dumb as rocks some of our elected legislators are. You just have to watch the first minute. Be ready to catch your jaw dropping before it hits the table.
The sad thing is that Rep. Massie’s Trump-loving, climate change-denying, bag of hammers-stupid constituents back in his Kentucky district will eat it up because they don’t know any better. Don’t believe me? Just read some of the comments on that youtube video. Just sad. How have we sunk this low? Our education system has clearly failed when the electorate votes for idiots like Massie. And for the moment, we have Betsy DeVos to fix our education system. I fear all hope is lost for the USA.
Or maybe I can help. I have a Bachelor of Science degree. And I went through a Master of Science program. I guess according to Rep. Massie, that makes me a scientist! Maybe I best commence with some sciencing and fix the gol’ darn climate mess that the Dumbocrats have invented.
In the words of John Kerry, “Are you serious? This is really, seriously happening here?” Sadly, it did.

I have been really lax on this recurring feature. I can’t afford to be. Candidates are streaming into the Democratic primary race. So let’s get you up to speed with a quick recap.
There may be less serious candidates to shed, but I feel I need to painfully rip a 2016 scab off now that has never fully healed. This candidate cannot be the Democratic candidate in 2020. I will not allow it.

Is it crazy that I get worried that Trump hasn’t tweeted in over 18 hours? You know he’s up. You know he’s been watching Fox & Friends. Why no tweets? It makes me worried when he doesn’t tweet, like he is dealing with an actual national security issue. With his dissolving brain, that is cause for concern.
Okay, this is turning into live-blogging. As I type this post, Trump tweeted this …

Ah, that’s better. There is something comforting to me about Trump getting back to tweeting and wasting his time rather than potentially governing. This country is really messed up.
I did nazi how racist and xenophobic this cheese was before we purchased it.

Well, Attorney General Barr did his job as a Trump lackey appointee and threw cold water on any Special Counsel Robert Mueller findings over the weekend. I think the passage of time will reveal some more positive takeaways, but for now, what do we do? This?

Okay, so I did a little of that myself on Sunday. The Mueller investigation was not the end game. It has spun off so many other investigations that will continue on. I also have a feeling that when House Democrats get their hands on the full Mueller report, maybe Trump will start to once again look a bit more collusiony and obstructiony when all the details are revealed.
So put down the bottle and ask yourself …
My ten year old daughter and her friends often play a game of Expectation vs. Reality. They imagine the best result from some activity, and then they demonstrate the failed reality. For example, here is the dive they expect to do in the pool …

And then the reality they demonstrate is …

Maybe not that bad. That looks painful. I don’t want my youngest and her friends hurt.
Trump supporters play this same game all day, every day. For example, this is their view of the “National Emergency.”
