A Christmas Haul

Here we are on the fourth day of my Twelve Days of Blogging, and I experienced quite a haul yesterday. No, I didn’t get a lot of gifts. (Thanks for that lack of gifts, by the way) My haul involved literally hauling these five 4′ x 8′ sheets of drywall up a tricky flight of stairs with a couple tight turns at the bottom and top.

No, I didn’t do it alone. I assisted my brother-in-law who is doing our bathroom renovation & expansion. But then, I got the bright idea to haul these bad boys up the stairs … by myself.

They are indeed smaller boards, only 3′ x 6′. But they are made from cement, hence the name cement board. And there are seven of them. And they are heavy. Did I mention they are made from cement? And I carried them by myself. I’d pat myself on the back for doing a good job, but my arms are too sore. I tried to take a drink after, but my arm was shaking so much from exertion that I had to do what is commonly known as the Trump sippy cup assist.

But then my brother-in-law thought it was a better idea to cut them to size downstairs. So, back they went down the stairs, but not in my arms. I happened to be “on the phone” at the time.

Fortunately, my wife was baking cookies yesterday, so I knew there would be a reward waiting. I was thrilled to see she was making her famous Labrador Puppy Cookies.

I know, I know. There are those who disapprove. They prefer using Yellow Labs for this recipe. However, in my opinion, using Chocolate Labs makes for the tastiest Labrador Puppy Cookie.

Our Lola in her Christmas hat definitely disapproves, but approves of you having a very Merry Christmas.

Editor’s Note: No dogs were cooked in the making of this blog post.
