While governors across the USA have suggested they will take whatever measures they can to deny admittance to Syrian refugees into their states, a spokesperson for Syrian refugees arriving in the USA has specifically requested that they be denied admittance to any state in the Deep South. The spokesperson explained: “We are trying to escape from a land of armed oppression due to race and religion. We do not wish to live in a state where that will continue and is a worse place to raise our families than Syria.”
