Mite Be Funny #107 – Spring Ahead Edition

Jim Flanigan Looks at the World
Turning the Mundane into Fundane Since 2015

This special Mite Be Funny will not be funny, although that could be said for most all the Mite Be Funny cartoons. I am saddened at the passing of Peter Tork of the Monkees. I actually shed a tear or two typing this homage.
I was a bit too young to have been swept up in the original Monkeemania, but as I grew older, I came to appreciate the Monkees for what they were – a fun band. Peter Tork played the ‘dumb’ Monkee on their TV show, but he was a brilliant musician, certainly the most musically-gifted and trained of the four.

Don’t mention it, Pete. He got the role in the Monkees after his buddy, Stephen Stills, was rejected. If Stephen Stills had been chosen to be a Monkee, might we have gotten Crosby, Tork & Nash?

No, you are not imagining things. Yes, last week I hinted that the weekly edition of Mite Be Funny may be going on hiatus for a while. Sorry to disappoint you. Let’s just say that I was inspired by nature to deliver this weather-related two panel edition.

Last week, the 100th Mite Be Funny cartoon was published. That’s 100 cartoons about arachnids. I started Mite Be Funny with this cartoon almost two years ago.

I set an unrealistic goal of 100 Mite Be Funny cartoons about the lives and loves of dust mites that eat our dead skin flakes. It did not seem plausible that I could write 100 entertaining cartoons about mites eating dead skin flakes. And I was right. This is typical of the bad jokes contained in these cartoons …

Due to the continuing US government shutdown, this blog (deemed as non-essential by the Trump Administration) will not be posting for a few days. Finally, you can be grateful to Donald Trump for something. Any posts that may occur will likely be lacking humor. I hope you will be able to tell the difference.
Thanks to a generous grant from CACA (Corporation Advancing Cartoon Arachnids), Mite Be Funny has been fully funded through tomorrow, and Mite Be Funny #100 will post tomorrow as scheduled. We are seeking further funding from organizations like FFF (Foundation For Flies) to continue to bring you such regular features like Flies On Washington Walls cartoons. Don’t hold your breath.
