An Ironic Pain in my Butt

I am waaaaaay overdue for a colonoscopy. You could say I’m a bit behind.

I even have a dear friend who had colon cancer. You would think that’s enough incentive to get checked. Oh, sure, I pooped in a box and mailed it in. Then I found out that there are places that will actually check it for signs of colon cancer, so I changed where I had been mailing my poop. All clear for cancer. But that was a few years ago, and that test is supposedly not as effective as a colonoscopy.

Researchers have been working on a blood sample test as a replacement for a colonoscopy. I have some good news and bad news to share.

The good news is that I have been accepted into a clinical trial for the colorectal cancer blood sample screening test. Yay! They even will pay me a little cash every time they draw blood. Double yay!

But there is some bad news with an ironic twist. After they take my blood sample, then I have to get a standard colonoscopy that I was hoping to avoid. Irony is going to be a pain in my butt after all.

My Ironic Fall

On top of the disappointment of Arrestmas apparently not happening today (yet another Trump lie), I took an ironic fall down some stairs last night. I have a thing about shoelaces being tied as I have tripped before on my untied laces. Before I headed upstairs late last night to bed, I made sure to tie the laces on my slippers. Once I got upstairs, I realized I needed to return downstairs, which I did without my slippers. No need to worry about tripping on untied laces, right? Ironically, I didn’t need laces to trip and tumble down the last few stairs with enough ruckus to wake the whole household.

I’m okay, but the fall may have shook me enough that I slept through my new alarm clock that was unable to rouse me this morning.

And I still can’t find my bed melon!

Too Much Iron(y) in the Water

Having been raised Catholic, I wanted to visit Lourdes to solve my acne problems of adolescence. I was convinced that just one face-washing in the healing water of Lourdes would zap my zits. But now this news article …

Lourdes

Shouldn’t we be bringing coronavirus patients to Lourdes to bathe them? Apparently, there’s not only iron, but irony in the waters of Lourdes. Oh well, back to drinking bleach.

Unplanned Parenthood

The healthcare bill passed by House Republicans yesterday will defund Planned Parenthood as just one of its many heinous actions. I find it ironic that Republicans want the federal government to pull out of funding Planned Parenthood which is exactly the kind of contraception that millions of Americans would have to go back to without Planned Parenthood.
