Here’s another fact: I’m not the GM. Why am I here writing this when I was supposed to be on a set shooting a commercial in a lead role as General Manager of a local auto dealership? Here’s the “official” explanation:

My role as GM required a 3-day shoot starting today that paid quite well. I’m guessing they found a more attractive, younger, better actor, etc. type of person to play the role of GM. Perhaps it was my suggestion that I wear a trenchcoat and no pants that led them to reconsider choosing me. Maybe it’s for the best. Here are some of the shots that were planned for today.

I don’t like the idea of a camera landing on me, although I was looking forward to this “bad boy” shot.

I imagine that I may have had to get into a costume like this for a “bad boy” shot of an older guy like me.

I wish they hadn’t asked me to submit a short sample video for this shot of the GM smiling and waving.

In hindsight, I wasn’t too smart to submit this clip.

They also asked me to submit a sample video for this shot.

For guidance, who better to turn to than a skilled actor and trusted Friend? That’s right, I modeled my sample satisfaction video off David Schwimmer in this scene.

Anyway, I’m back working my normal job(s) today. Stardom has once again proved as elusive as trying to pull out the last pickled beet slice from a glass jar using your fingers. Not to worry. I think I’m handling the rejection pretty well.
